"Finisher"

That's right ladies and gents...this girl right here

FINISHED!

I didn't make either of my goals I set for myself (running the whole time or coming in under 3 hours) but I finished my first half marathon!

I now understand the ice water for runners. It froze so good! I only wish I had stayed in it longer.

But finishing something I honestly thought I wouldn't feels so good! Even better was not having any thoughts of quitting during the race. It was hard but I endured to the end the best I could and that, is the best part:)

T minus

18 days till race day. I have made it 5 miles at most so far. Think I'm doomed...pfffff NAH!
I'm beginning to get nervous about it. Lots of people, no idea what I'm doing, well, besides moving my feet! Lol.
Is it weird that I use "lol" when I blog? Cause I really do laugh in the middle of typing. Ok, maybe not laugh...but I definitely chuckle. I don't think I've ever read an "lol" on anyone else' blog though....
I'm so random. It's really a wonder that people keep subscribing to my blog. But they doooo.
What else is new here...well I saw another moose on my run last night. A young bull. I crossed to the other side of the road. And took a picture.

As nerve wracking as it is to be surrounded by animals that can kill you...it's still neat.

So is having parks that are on lakes. Surrounded by mountains.

Gorgeous isn't it? I tell ya, Alaska really redeems itself when the sun comes out. I really have not been anywhere as beautiful.

And then there's naughty kids that make you laugh.

That's it for this time friends. I'll be back with more randomness. I promise.

character building...of sorts

I got an email the other day about my half marathon. Mostly blah blah blah, you have until the 10th to switch to a 5 miler, blah blah blah. Wait what?! I have options? I can switch it to a 5 miler?! Hmmm, this could be ok. I could totally run 5 miles and not die.

But I signed up for the half.
I told myself I'd run a half marathon.
This is supposed to be for me. To help me feel accomplished.

Poo on you conscious. Poo on you!

I'll see you at the finish line. With bloody stumps for legs, from dragging myself....

Whooooo do you think you arrrrre?

That song takes me back. You remember? Spice girls? Lol...yup...I listened to them. But let's just forget I told you that. Ok? Good.
Back to whatever train of thought I was on, here. Oh! So, it's my birthday. Yup. The big 2-7. I'm not as upset about it today as I've been lately. It seems so easy to tell others that "it's just a number" or "you're not old". But when it's my turn....Oi! To celebrate the momentous occasion the hubs is going to take me out to dinner on a gift card I was given in exchange for some pictures, and a movie. There's also a groupon halibut fishing excursion, but that isn't until August. And yes, it was my idea. I actually enjoy the taste of halibut so I thought it would be fun to catch some. Salmon on the other hand....yuck. How can you live in Alaska and hate salmon, you ask? I don't know:)

Then...there's that pesky half marathon that won't leave me alone. I went on a little sabbatical down to Utah (tons of pictures to come) and had grand plans to take advantage of the higher altitude and train some. Nope. Nothing. So now I am six weeks out, with no organized training, to run 13.1 miles. Ha! Pretty much awesome. So I printed off a 10 week plan and ran my first 3 miles last night. Ran the whole thing and didn't even feel like dying! Running outside is so much better than on the treadmill!

Well, until I get my huge amount of pictures downloaded I will leave you for now. But it's been like months since I've been on so I guess you won't believe me. ;)

It's official

I decided to take the advice of my sisters and a reader, and register myself for the half marathon. I was hoping thinking that I was going to have some super awesome eye awakening moment which would, in turn, give me mass motivation to workout harder and longer. Please keep your laughter to yourself.
No such luck. Instead, I didn't make it to the gym yesterday. Today I went and the scheduled workout was speed training. I made it through half before I slowed it down and just sprinted randomly. Then I came home and shoved pieces of the kids lunch into my mouth while making my own lunch.

Yup. I'm right on target.
