Aaaaaand she's 3!

Little girl turned three. I'm a little late in posting but that's ok. She had a great time. It was simple and just family...just the way we like it:) Not sure I'll get away with Mr B's being low key this year. That's ok. I've decided I am combining his birthday with little dudes. Anyway...here's some pictures. Enjoy!

Whooooo do you think you arrrrre?

That song takes me back. You remember? Spice girls? Lol...yup...I listened to them. But let's just forget I told you that. Ok? Good.
Back to whatever train of thought I was on, here. Oh! So, it's my birthday. Yup. The big 2-7. I'm not as upset about it today as I've been lately. It seems so easy to tell others that "it's just a number" or "you're not old". But when it's my turn....Oi! To celebrate the momentous occasion the hubs is going to take me out to dinner on a gift card I was given in exchange for some pictures, and a movie. There's also a groupon halibut fishing excursion, but that isn't until August. And yes, it was my idea. I actually enjoy the taste of halibut so I thought it would be fun to catch some. Salmon on the other hand....yuck. How can you live in Alaska and hate salmon, you ask? I don't know:)

Then...there's that pesky half marathon that won't leave me alone. I went on a little sabbatical down to Utah (tons of pictures to come) and had grand plans to take advantage of the higher altitude and train some. Nope. Nothing. So now I am six weeks out, with no organized training, to run 13.1 miles. Ha! Pretty much awesome. So I printed off a 10 week plan and ran my first 3 miles last night. Ran the whole thing and didn't even feel like dying! Running outside is so much better than on the treadmill!

Well, until I get my huge amount of pictures downloaded I will leave you for now. But it's been like months since I've been on so I guess you won't believe me. ;)

We all know where the "good intentions" road goes...

BIG plans for sassy pant's birthday this year. I wanted a pirate theme. Starting with some cute invites for the friends he has made this year.

I found this clipart and was going to do up a whole invite myself on the computer.

And the decorations and favors inspiration came from this:

Cute right?! I also have a kids project book called "sew magical for kids". In it is a Kraken, pirate ship and pirates to make. The proper amount of time to make this would have been, oh I don't...September. Not a week before like yours truly did tried. Do you know what you end up with when you start things the week before the event or deadline?

No decorations. No finished kraken. No finished pirate ship!
See how the Kraken has no mouth? Pathetic.

No super cute homemade birthday cake either. Wal-mart got our business.
But I guess it turned out 'o-k' for the boy.

He was all smiles. Even after I kicked him back outside when he got home because I didn't even manage to have it all set up before he got home. Keep the lame-ness coming people.

But there were candles....

And he blew them out. And wished, I'm sure, for a better, more organized mother! No...actually he wished for a pirate ship like the one at his old preschool. Go figure.
Happy birthday buddy. I think I'll start preparing now for next year and hope I'm on time!

Can I have a minute to myself...please

I'm not dead blogland. Though I doubt any of you actually thought I was. It's just been SO stinkin busy here with family and holidays and a birthday today. So I have things to tell and show.

But not now.

And I'm sorry, tomorrow won't be a Pinterest post. Got some serious baking and Thanksgiving prep to do and my mother in law won't let me get out of it O.o!

An early celebration

(click on images to make larger)

We celebrated she-devil's birthday a week or so early so that Daddy could be here. I'm not sure what it is about this girl's birthday parties but I stress out big time. Last year's party was super cute and I can not believe I didn't blog about it...hmph! Well anyway, it stressed me out. I blamed it on being preggers with boy number 2. So what is my excuse this year? No. I. Dea.
I'll just chalk it up to...just getting moved in. Yes! That will work. It worked out and, while it wasn't as elaborate as I have been known to throw, she seemed as happy as any two year old could be with her "birday" :)
I hold no promises to what will happen for sassy pants' birthday though. I'm thinking....

Aaaaaarg me matey!

Fabulous

Oh my goodness! Yesterday was by far the best birthday I've had in my adult life. Wait, who am I kidding....best birthday ever :) Even though the day was filled with kids that made it their mission to be extra demanding, extra cranky, extra psychotic, all was made right in the world the moment Matt and I left to go out. I'm talking the second the door closed I felt like a MILLION bucks!

*I love them dearly but I needed to get out with my husband*

So we went. I think he had planned for us to go to dinner and a movie but I told him I wasn't really wanting to do the movie bit. I mean...I'm pretty stuck inside all the time so why choose to do that:) So we just went to dinner. Restaurant of choice? Glacier Brew House.
It. Was. Amazing.
We got an appetizer of salsa and chips and the salsa was fresh and delicious. Seriously....we tanked it. I should have cared but I didn't! For the main course I had the Chicken Rigatoni and Matt had the Bay Shrimp and Smoked King Salmon Caesar Salad. We enjoyed our meals very much. Mine was made with a garlic butter...and I could feel the oil on my lips...that's how buttery it was...lol. There was also no way I wasn't going to get dessert either! We didn't get a birthday cake.(which is good because then you don't have to figure out what you are going to do with the 3/4 of it that's left after the fact) Friends I'd like you to meet:

Mr. Original peanut butter pie

Mr. OPBP, meet my friends. I know if they got to taste you they would love you! But you all live far away so I got to enjoy him all by myself!
I don't have to tell any of you that I  completely gorged myself on delicious food and weighed the next day had a wonderful time! It was great. -contented sigh-
I am back to reality now. But that's ok...because I have next year to look forward to spending some alone time with my husband and being "free" for just a few hours. So until then...I'll recharge the batteries with rendezvous to the grocery store...

alone :)

Pretty in pink

My birthday is tomorrow. In celebration of this I decided to pretty up my toes. And two other sets of toes.

Aren't they pretty? I want you all to know that I had nothing to do with painting B's toes...he saw Miss C getting hers done and didn't want to feel left out. He did tell me he wished I had yellow. Maybe next time buddy.
Maybe next time:)

When camera meets tripod

It's my birthday. In like four days. My husband has smuggled gifts into our house and I haven't known where they are. I knew he had smuggled them in because he can't keep a secret like that to save his life, but I told him I didn't want them until my birthday. They were secret until last night when I needed to get a bed sheet and he said not to yank them all out. Well, knowing you have presents and where they are is different than not knowing where they are. I had the itch. I thought about them all day. And I know when I casually mention things that I want to Matt, he gets it on the brain too and wants to do what I ask.(unless of course it's chore related!)
Well....I cracked. I mentioned to him that I wanted them. So then he says 'ok' like I knew he would and I try to tell him that "no, don't....keep them till Wednesday". I said this not so convincingly;) So happy early birthday to me! He got me a....

Tripod!!!

It's pretty gosh darn neat if I do say so myself! The head on it swivels! So it's waaaay easy to use. So easy a 5 year old can do it. And he did. Of course he couldn't get the hang of pressing the shutter button half-way to let it focus and then finishing the job with a little more pressure. No.
Instead he pressed it half-way...and held it...and held it some more. I tried and tried to tell him how to do it but he was having some major issues. He'd get it once...and capture my overwhelming 'patience' facial expression.

I know. Special.
It's hard for me...trying to explain things to children. Instead I get flustered and watch them depress the button...and then have like a turret's twitch in anticipation of pressing the button all the way...and then nothing happening. I thought for a few moments he was going to side twitch my camera off the tripod! But he somehow managed to snap a few...and then I had to snap a few because it was part of my gift!!!

she's so pleasant!

not half bad!

Happy early birthday to me!!!
