T minus

18 days till race day. I have made it 5 miles at most so far. Think I'm doomed...pfffff NAH!
I'm beginning to get nervous about it. Lots of people, no idea what I'm doing, well, besides moving my feet! Lol.
Is it weird that I use "lol" when I blog? Cause I really do laugh in the middle of typing. Ok, maybe not laugh...but I definitely chuckle. I don't think I've ever read an "lol" on anyone else' blog though....
I'm so random. It's really a wonder that people keep subscribing to my blog. But they doooo.
What else is new here...well I saw another moose on my run last night. A young bull. I crossed to the other side of the road. And took a picture.

As nerve wracking as it is to be surrounded by animals that can kill you...it's still neat.

So is having parks that are on lakes. Surrounded by mountains.

Gorgeous isn't it? I tell ya, Alaska really redeems itself when the sun comes out. I really have not been anywhere as beautiful.

And then there's naughty kids that make you laugh.

That's it for this time friends. I'll be back with more randomness. I promise.

Ruining dinner

I've got to say that living in Alaska definitely has it's perks. One being that on any given day we can see bald eagles. Or moose. Or bears. (Bears I could do without, unless they are behind a fence)
The fam and I went down to Seward to the aquarium and saw this rotund mammal:

(long video)
It was huge. I don't know if the video gives it justice...but my gosh:) It was pretty neat seeing it do all it's tricks. Granted it had to, to get fed :)
On the way back we saw this:

This eagle was just standing on the side of the road! In the wild! We pulled over like the apocalypse was happening and it was totally acceptable...why?, because we live in Alaska! We were all trying to figure out why it was just standing there.

And this is what it was trying to fly off with:

eating sophisticated food

I am a sweet potato kind of girl. Plain, buttered, mashed, or put into a sweet potato pie is how I roll. Apparently my baby doesn't agree. His reaction to the sweet, smooth taste of them...'huuuuugghhh". I don't know if that represents the gag reflex but I tried! Ha! Yes, his little face scrunches up, the mouth makes an "o", and the tongue comes out just a tad...and then the huuugggghhh. Lol! But I will not easily be deterred! I coaxed him into eating pretty much the whole jar-minus the few spoons that made their way to my mouth weren't fit for eating. I have to make sure he gets his veggies because, if I were to just feed him yummy fruits, I fear that his butter-ball self will just continue to grow at an out of control rate! I mean...the boy's already working on his Michelin man look! And he has just discovered his toes this week...oh my gosh I don't remember thinking babies eating toes was as cute as it is!!!! Check it out! Frankly...I'm in awe that the boy can even lift his leg that high!

did you see the sausage legs he's sporting?!
------------
I love macaroni and cheese.
No really. I need to stop kidding myself when I think I'm not going to eat it and that I will have a salad instead. I think that because I always make it with hot dogs...and the only and I mean ONLY time I will eat a hot dog is if I'm pregnant and it's the only thing available to shove in my famished mouth! Back to the point...whenever I make said dinner I typically plan on eating something less processed. (but I feed the super processed to my kids? really?) ANYWAY....I made up dinner for the older two and made up some sweet taters for the baby and got them all fed before I fed myself. Then I had a bite of the leftover mac and cheese, which was a generous amount because my kids...well...they're kids.

And then the pan was empty.

Do you know what happens to kids that eat hot dogs and mac and cheese...and then the older one drinks the juice in a fruit cocktail can(huuuuggghhh-gag me)? They act like this,

Then they go to bed at normal time and continue to play in their room until 930 pm. That is 2 1/2 hours!!!!!! Go to freaking sleep already!!!!! No? Ok....I will!

Good night! Well, after Desperate Houswives of course!

It's hard to be 5

I've had a while to figure out who B is most like. My conclusion? ME! It is becoming more and more apparent the more teeth gnashing and head butting quality bonding time we have now. There's a lot of this:

He thinks he's quite amusing as you can tell from his grin. Let me explain. This is his sign. Starting at the left you have Daddy. Then there's Mommy. And then Miss C and then little C. Did you notice how the only one not allowed in his room is me. Yea...me too.

And I am not one to stop consequences when we are out. I thought this was hilarious actually...because he's never actually been put in the 'corner'...so when I told him to "take 5", this is what he did. Made my night! Is that awful, that I find joy in seeing how my son punishes himself? :)

This past Saturday I took him to our 'gym'. It's really just a room with two treadmills, two elliptical machines and one recumbent bike, but it does the job. Anyway...he begged to go and since we don't do much I conceded. I should have put it faster....

And then there's just his weird factor. I don't think I could count how many of these types of pictures I have of him. I quit asking him to smile or look presentable, like, a year ago.

Continuing the weirdness....

(he has perpetual dry skin/rash so we put balmex on to help...hence his mustache)

He likes to do 'big people' things and this includes eating what we eat. Or trying things that we enjoy, whether they be good or not. Being a five year old means that he knows all no matter what you try to tell him. Even when we try to tell him the Wasabi flavored peanuts are gross....he still wants one. And this is what happens...

Man, after this little tribute to the 5 year old in my house...I realize that we have a lot of fun and it's not as bad I think it's been. Which is good. And I really can't complain about built in comedy skits:)

I'm entitled...if I choose

Staying in the house all day for days on end had to stop! Seriously....the children were starting to get all "The Shining" on me. If I had made them stay in one more day...*shudder*. So we went OUT! Really! I got them all dressed, took our laundry basket, and played outside:) Oh the sun.....glorious glorious sun! How I love thee! While you didn't exactly warm my bones...you warmed my Spirit, gave me the strength to believe I can live here and be ok,...OR maybe just a false sense of happiness;) Nah....I can do it:)

I can also be a complete goofball, outside, playing with my kids:) This is including, but not limited to, B's crocheted hat his Aunt Jen made him, my BSU sweatshirt, my crocheted scarf that my SIL Stacie made me, my awesome gray sweatpants that my MIL loves...these being tucked into my Uggs. Ha! I was awesome looking:) Lucky for me (and you) I didn't take a picture of that! I did take a video of Miss C and I sledding down the hill to B.

It was fun. I really enjoyed myself and I'm glad I let go of my "me" and just had a good time with them. I think it was easier because I used to do that as a kid and it's just as fun now as it was then...even in a laundry basket:) We did splurge however and buy a saucer for $5...and as my husband so lovingly put it...my butt will fit on it:) I did tell him my butt had no problem fitting in the basket.

AND....earlier this week our apartment complex got a new security system. I guess there have been too many break-ins of the vehicles so they enlisted some help from the locals:

CRAAAAZY!!!!

This moose was literally across the parking lot from our building. I'm cool with it...just as long as bears don't decide to do the same. Then I may shat myself. That would be insane. lol. Speaking of poo....I just want everyone to know that I had my first poo casualty with baby C. I have no idea how it made it all over my pants and not on his. The mysteries of baby poo still elude me. haha...well till then,
Meg

Fun and games until the government gets involved

So it's been almost a week since the hubs has been gone. It hasn't been too bad, mostly because it has been busy around here. M & S have been here since Friday and they take off on Sunday. So we have been visiting and letting the kids play like wild banshees. Miss H spent Mon, Tue, and Wed night here with us. It was a good time. I let her have almost free reign of my snack basket which contained fruit by the foot. She was a happy camper. On her last visit I was running low on breakfast items and she comes from a group of siblings that are always hungry. I was dressed and B &C were dressed. Miss H was a little on the slacking side because she was playing with play-doh. I was patiently waiting for a nice break in play to motivate her to get dressed. And then I received this:
I had a good chuckle and then my preggo brain actually decided to be clever and respond with this:
Lol, it was amusing to me. And then Miss sassy pants gave me this:
It's kind of hard to read, but it says, "the gov has told me to get dressed I will after I get a fruit roll up the govt DEMANSD you to let us have food and not starve. Signed, the president of getting dressed". hahahahahahaha. Needless to say the half pint got dressed before her fruit roll up:) She's a character. I am starting to see the "tween" come out in her. Up until now, for me personally, she has still been a little kid. She still has a lot of kid in her play but the more girliness and drama is shining through. She is turning into a nice young lady and it's hard to believe that I have known this girl for just about 7 years. I hope I am making an impression on her like my Aunts did for me. Anyway!

Here is my cute baby taking a nap...I couldn't resist:)
And a cute video of the kids playing at the brook down the road.

And one more of all of them being goofballs:)

Bath time:)

She was pretty hungry during this...that's why she was fussing. And of course I had to pick this night to video her bath:)

sleeping babes

Sleeping babies are so cute...with their eyes all rolling back in their heads and mouth twitches:) C is a very good sleeper. We have been having just as good luck with her as we have with B. It has been very nice. She seems to be putting on weight which is also good and I am pleased to report that she is having bowel movements:) She also loves her hair being washed. I need to take a video of it with my camera:) As for the mother of these 2 fine individuals...I am doing good. I'm grateful for the fact that I don't seem to suffer from the baby blues. I had one day where I was a little overwhelmed, but I think that's because I caught a cold and was really tired. Other than that I'm chipper:D Jen left today. We are sad to see her go but know that she really was ready to get home and get back to her routine with her daughter. Her parents leave in about 3 weeks I think it is to go back East and make the yearly visit. I'm bummed I can't go. Well, I could, but it would definitely be very interesting. And I think I would miss Matt too much,...and his help :P So instead we are going to soak up the "vacation" away from his family...lol. Anyway. Hope everyone is doing well and know that we love you! Till then,
Meg
